Location
Caswell Bay is situated two miles outside the bustling village of Mumbles, on
the edge of the glorious Gower peninsular with its award winning beaches. Miles
of sea and sand, scenic woodland walks, village pubs, outdoor activities, dog
and children friendly eateries abound.
Caswell Bay is a Blue Flag beach and boasts a large
expanse of clean, golden sand. The Guardian ranked Caswell Bay among the top 50 beaches in Britain.
Two beach snack bars sell beach toys and the Surf Side Cafe serves tasty snacks and
delicious coffee until early evening. Amenities include toilets and parking plus life guards from May - September.
Gentle rocks attract the more adventurous young climbers, caves, generous sized
rock pools which re-fill twice a day to provide safe warm bathing for our
younger visitors.
Surfing, kayaking and body boarding are popular sports and wet
suits and equipment are easily bought in Mumbles and the local area.
Caswell Bay has one the highest ranges of tides, being up to 14-15 metres. The sea is part
of the Bristol Channel and is warm enough to swim in without a wetsuit from
early summer though some hardy souls swim there every day of the year. Dog ban in
summer months.
Behind the car park is the beautiful Bishop's Wood nature
reserve, a pretty wooded area, popular for dog walking.
A Golf club can be found on the headland between Caswell and Langland Bay which welcomes day
visitors.
